Recent News and Ariel Sweet for ASUC Senate

SSDP is still working on a Good Samaritan policy, which you are welcome to get involved in. The Good Samaritan Policy aims to make it so that in the event of a drug/alcohol overdose, 911 would dispatch only an ambulance and not the cops. Therefore, those in an emergency would not need to fear getting busted for having used illegal drugs or participated in/condoned underage drinking.

Additionally, this Thursday, April 1, SSDP is hosting SAFER Day of Action on Memorial Glade at noon (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101811846520779&ref=ts). This event promotes awareness that marijuana is in FACT, safer than alcohol and should thus be at least equalized.

Also, remember Ariel Sweet, who is running for ASUC Senate this year with Student Action. Kat Murti, president of SSDP, has decided to endorse and support her, as one of her main campaign goals directly aligns with our Good Samaritan Act campaign. It is important to have passionate Senate representation in support of this cause. Therefore, Kat urges all of you to PLEASE help get Ariel elected to ASUC Senate. She needs our help and support because she cannot do it alone. Please add her as a friend on facebook and join the facebook group for her campaign at
Please invite all your friends to the group and spread the word about Ariel and the Good Samaritan Act!

Last but not definitely not least, during the weeks of hard campaigning (March 29th- April 8th) Ariel will need as possible. Everyday she will be on Sproul from 7 am to 5 pm holding her signs and flyering to students to help raise awareness for her campaign. Please sign up to help her Sproul and flyer for a few hours out of your week. She would greatly appreciate if you could take time out of your schedule to support her. In addition to this we will also be chalking the streets every night (which is very fun). Please take a look at the following schedule and sign up to help: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AsVR1KuuRrqKdE1QdmZ4c3FnUHU0X2hnN2RrMEVRbEE&hl=en

Please remember that it's important to vote Ariel your #1 choice, for once Ariel is elected, with your help she will work her hardest to represent you and implement sensible drug policy on the UC Berkeley campus, starting with the Good Samaritan Act.

Vote Ariel Sweet (The SWEETEST Choice) #125 for ASUC Senate!!
